Oops, nevermind

We had all the last minutes tests performed and just had the paperwork left to sign before something happened with James that prevented us from leaving yesterday. He was laying asleep in Stephen's arms when his oxygen levels started dipping down (they ended up going in the 70's). It's a pretty normal thing for a newborn to do (especially a preemie) but because the hospital has him, they had to do their due diligence and keep him here for another 48 hrs minimum. It's a huge bummer but I wouldn't want to be allowed to take him home and then just wonder if his oxygen was going to dip really low again.

So it's Thursday morning and we are going to be here until Friday around noon, at least. He's had a handful more of these episodes although only once has it gotten below 80. I'll speak with a dr. today to see what it is they are looking for and what our next steps are to get discharged. I'm extremely happy that it doesn't appear to be an issue with him but it's also frustrating that we are being kept here for a perfectly normal baby function (especially one that he just kind of grows out of eventually).
